Kalalau Trail, Kauai, Hawaii

This 11 miles hike is absolutely gorgeous, as it trails along the Na Pali Coast of Kauai. With 300 foot waterfalls, two gorgeous sandy beaches, Hanakapiai, there is so much to see in this unique hiking trail. Due to some heavy flooding in 2018, there have been some changes and now hiking more than two miles does require a permit, but it is well worth the effort.

Camino Primitivo, Camino de Santiago

This 9th century route takes you right to the Shrine of Saint James in Santiago de Compostela, following the trail that original pilgrim Alfonso II os Asturias took. The 15 day hike doesn’t get many of the yearly Camino hikers, perhaps because it crosses the 8000 foot Cantabrian Mountains. However, the payoff of this challenge are the incredible sights you’ll witness of the peaks of Picos de Europa and the 3rd century World Heritage sit of Lugo, which is a city surrounded by a fully intact Roman wall.

Paine Circuit, Torres del Paine National Park, Chile

This 80 mile loop around the Patagonian wilderness is lesser known than its counterparts Las Horquetas Circuit or the Dientes Circuit on Navarino Island. However, this is the best trail to take to avoid crowds. There are gorgeous sights along the way. If you want a nice break from the trail for a bit, you can stay at Tierra Patagonia, a luxury hotel practically hidden in the surrounding steppe.
